Due to the fact that I received quite a few questions on what can be funded in agriculture through the H2020 SME Instrument, I`m gonna give some details and try to answer some of the questions.
With about 20% of the questions on this topic, I’m talking about business models. Some people said that innovation in agriculture does not really exist outside multinationals. They said that the only innovations are, in fact, new business models and that these are hard to finance.
Well, it`s not so hard.
There is a funding line on the H2020 SME Instrument which funds exactly that: innovative business models. Like all other topics, it is also split in several phases (1, 2 and 3) which follow the model:
- Phase 1: 50,000 Euros for a feasibility study;
- Phase 2: between 500,000 and 2,500,000 Euros for the development of the concept and making it market ready;
- Phase 3: no funding, but it offers facilities to support the commercialization, in principle coaching and networking opportunities.

P.S. I`m still an awesome consultant which can give you a helping hand for getting funded by H2020.
